During the fall of his final year at Harvard Law School, Roberts decided to pursue a career in football coaching and wrote 164 letters to college and professional football teams.  Herm Edwards, head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs at the time, extended Roberts an invitation to serve as one of two training camp interns in 2007.

Roberts promptly declined his law firm offers and upon graduating from HLS, made the trek from Cambridge to Kansas City.  After completing his internship, he joined the Chiefs in a volunteer capacity and was elevated to the position of defensive quality control assistant in 2008.  After two seasons (2007-08) working with the Chiefs, Roberts was hired as the assistant secondary coach of the Detroit Lions.

He earned a Master of Public Policy degree from The Kennedy School (2004) and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School (2007).

Roberts founded 4th and 1 (www.4thand1.org) – a free football camp for at-risk high school sophomores that combines traditional football training with SAT prep, life skills classes, and professional development workshops.

Roberts reached his lifetime goal of touching all seven continents on November 23, 2006.
